From working on his grandparents’ farm in Nebraska to building companies in Kansas City, getting his hands dirty has always been part of Keith’s DNA. He has spent more than 40 years as an entrepreneur, operator, and advisor to growing businesses.
Prior to co-founding Flyover Capital in 2014, Keith founded Balance Innovations in 2004 and built the company into a leading provider of cash office software for the retail industry before its acquisition by Brink’s. Earlier in his career, Keith founded and worked with several startups, including Entrepreneurial Consulting Corporation, where he advised technology companies, economic development organizations, and state and federal agencies. His clients included the Kauffman Foundation, KTEC, NIST/ATP, KCCatalyst, and several state entrepreneurial initiatives.
Keith has served on more than 20 private company boards as well as several nonprofit boards. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and later earned his BBA from Baker University and his MBA from the Helzberg School of Management at Rockhurst University. He was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010 and has received the Kansas City Business Journal’s Champions of Business award three times. Keith is also active with YPO Gold and serves on the board of the Kansas City chapter.
When he is not helping support the next generation of technology companies, Keith can usually be found on the golf course chasing the elusive double eagle, cheering for the Huskers, or at the smoker perfecting his brisket and ribs.
